The medial quadriceps whose lowest oblique fibres (VMO) resist lateral patellar tracking and extend the terminal knee.

    Intertrochanteric line and medial lip of the linea aspera of the femur

    Base of the patella and tibial tuberosity via the quadriceps/patellar tendon
