Overview

The two-headed anterior arm muscle that flexes the elbow and is the most powerful supinator of the forearm, especially with the elbow flexed.

    Long head: supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula. Short head: apex of the coracoid process

  • Insertion

    Radial tuberosity and, via the bicipital aponeurosis, the deep forearm fascia

  • Action

    Supinates the forearm and flexes the elbow; long head weakly flexes the arm

  • Innervation

    Musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6)

  • Blood supply

    Brachial artery (muscular branches)
